Born in Gillingham in 1938

Son of Francis Henry and Rose Ada and brother of Doreen and brother little ‘Jimmy’ Who died tragically aged 9 in 1951 while marching with the Royal Marine Cadets in Dock Road Chatham.

Attended Forge Lane School from age 5 -11 and then went to
Gillingham Grammar school to age 18

Joined Royal Marine Cadets as a young by and then was very proud to do his National Service in the Royal Marines

Later went into Insurance and became an Inspector.

Met Marilyn in 1971 and got married in 1975 and had a daughter Mandy. He also had 2 stepchildren Chris and Linda

He had 6 Grandchildren – Shanice, Sophie, Bethany, Rebekah, Oliver and Grace and a Nephew Christopher and Niece Julie

He later became a Publican and Hotelier with Marilyn in Birmingham. They eventually moved back South and ran the ‘Green Dragon P.H in Gillingham

Later Retired but went back to work as Yard/Store man in the civil engineering industry

He was very keen on sport and loved cricket, rugby and football and in particular “The Gills” Who he had supported since a young boy.

He had a dry sense of humour and enjoyed ‘The Goons” radio show.

He was a keen musician and could play many instruments and often entertained the family at Christmas by playing his piano accordion, and also the spoons!

As a mature student he obtained his degree in European Studies BSc Hons

He was a keen member of the re-enactment group at Fort Amherst.

Became addicted to his Lap top and the Internet and was most definitely a ‘Silver surfer’ who spoke daily with Mandy and the girls. He had also spent hours working on his Geneology and the family tree for him and Marilyn.

For the last 2 -3 years had been a full time career for Marilyn who went away with the fairy’s until a brain tumor was discovered and removed 6 months ago

Above all he was a dignified and up standing citizen who will be remembered for his great affinity for all things nautical and anything to do with the “Royal Marines”

My Dad was my hero, I thought he was magic because he knew the snooker scores before they were announced. We shared the same sense of humour and he knew how to have me in stiches within minutes.
I feel so very empty and will miss my Dad so very much. I spent so much of my childhood trying to convince him I was a 'grown up'... now I wish I was little again, he'd know exactly how to make me feel better.

Two lonely people together I fell in love with you,
The last waltz will last forever,
Its all over now,
Nothing left to say just the Gills and the Rainhan End singing,
